Seattle Named Host City for 2008 World Series
Great news for Seattle and the Emerald City Softball Association. The 2008 Gay Softball World Series is coming to Seattle.
On Sunday, February 4, the Open and Women's Divisions of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) voted to award their annual World Series tournaments to Seattle. The vote took place as part of NAGAAA's winter meetings in Phoenix, which is the site of upcoming 2007 Gay Softball World Series.
The vote was made by NAGAAA board members and delegates from the 57 LGBT softball leagues representing 35 cities across the United States and Canada. Seattle presented its 32-page bid book as part of its 20-minute presentation to NAGAAA delegates, which included information on the proposed fields and hotels for the event.
The Seattle Bid Committee would like to thank the dozens of ECSA members, friends, sponsors, and supporters from the community who have participated in the bid process -- with a special thank you to the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Seattle Sports Commission, who participated in the bid presentation in Phoenix. The bid committee now looks forward to becoming a host committee, which will mean recruiting many more people into important roles over the next several weeks.
