Seattle Highlights

Seattle Skyline Seattle does NOT lead U.S. cities in annual rainfall--that's just a rumor perpetuated by wily residents. At 37 inches per year, it's less than Miami (56 inches), New York (42), Atlanta (51) and Boston (41), to mention only a few. The average rainfall for the month of August is less then one inch and the average temperature for the month of August is 75 degrees. Highs can range from the mid 80’s to the 70’s and Lows in the 50’s and 60’s with very low humidity. Perfect weather conditions to play softball. There has been several times in recent years that Seattle has had zero days of measurable rainfall in the month of August. Let's talk about the beauty of Seattle.

Seattle Skyline Seattle's natural beauty inspires even the most committed couch potatoes. Add the inherent heartiness of the natives, and it's obvious why REI and Eddie Bauer found their niche here. The best in urban recreation is at your toes and at your fingertips around Seattle--spectacularly scenic golf, kayaking and canoeing, fishing and clamming, hiking, urban parks including Discovery Park (Magnolia neighborhood), Seward Park (Lake Washington) and Woodland Park Zoo and Rose Gardens. A short drive out of the city leads to skiing, snowboarding, river rafting, hiking and some of the most scenic parks around.

Seattle Skyline Seattle is situated on the shores of two large lakes and Puget Sound, and flanked by two mountain ranges. Because of it’s abundance of waterways boating is a big pass time in the Seattle Area. Views of the Majestic Mt. Rainier can be seen from multiple view points throughout the Seattle Area. The Sandy shores and boardwalk environment at Alki Beach is only a 15 minute drive and a 10 minute boat ride from downtown Seattle. You can enjoy the many restaurants of this beach community or watch a local beach volleyball tournament that is taking place most weekends. Trips to Bainbridge Island are only a 30 minute ferry ride from downtown.

Seattle Skyline The Seattle area is the home to several internationally known Enterprises. Microsoft’s home campus is located on the East Side of Lake Washington in Redmond. The Boeing Company has several plants and facilities throughout the Puget Sound area. And Starbucks corporate headquarters is located in the Sodo District close to downtown. And in Seattle you will find a Starbucks just about around every corner.

See the Arts in gay friendly Seattle. A trip to Seattle offers more opportunities to experience arts and culture than you can probably fit in, but you'll have fun trying. Seattle's cultural scene continues to flourish with nationally respected opera, ballet, art galleries, museums, festivals, and theater. In fact, Seattle boasts more theaters than any comparably sized US city, and the number of total performances ranks second only to New York.

Seattle Skyline Seattle is more than espresso carts, espresso stands, and espresso bars. Nationally-acclaimed local chefs have placed Seattle solidly on the international cuisine map. The regional bounty is rich: salmon, shellfish, sweet onions, mushrooms, stone fruits, berries and asparagus. The culture overflows with liquid delights--coffee, microbrews and wine. Given its easy proximity to the Pacific Rim, Seattle's collaborative cuisine also takes full advantage of Asian ingredients and embraces the city's many cultural influences to create cutting-edge fusions and ambrosial works of art. The chefs: brilliant. The cuisine: lively. The upshot: sublime.
